I'll Be Living Under The Bridge Wrinkle Free

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I realize the amount of stuff I put on my face every day is ridiculous. So any comments telling me everything I already know will be useless. I stand by the fact that if you're going to splurge on one thing, it should be skincare because its one of the few things that you're going to have forever so you better take care of it. I don't care if I have to eat Ramen noodles for the rest of my life. So, for all of you that have sent me "Ask Emily" messages regarding my skin regimen, here ya go....

    A.M. routine:
    1. Wash with Cerave Hydrating cleanser
    2. 2 Drops of Skinceuticals Phloretin CF Serum (I can tell a huge difference in my skin when I use this. Helps with fine lines.)
    3. 1 drop of Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Serum (My skin gets dry.. if yours doesn't you can probably skip this)
    4. La Mer Eye Balm Intense
    5. Cerave AM Lotion OR La Mer Soft Cream if I need extra hydration

    P.M. Routine:
    1. Wash with Skinceuticals Clarifying Cleanser using my Clarisonic
    2. Every other night I use retinoid pads I get from Charlotte Skin & Laser (If you're not using a retinoid, START ASAP)
    3. 2 drops of Skinceuticals Blemish + Age Serum (My skin is prone to breakouts and this has helped a lot. If you're not, you can probably skip this step)
    4. La Mer Eye
    5. Cerave PM Lotion or La Mer Soft Cream if I need extra hydration

Also, I'm a 27 year old single mom so theres no way I'm buying La Mer using my own money. Its a gift from my mother for almost every holiday because she swears by it. And trust me, if you've seen my mom you'd listen because the woman looks better than I do. It also lasts forever, so a jar will last me most of the year.

    • you are sucha doll! thank you! :D

    • Thanks for the post, Emily! I completely agree with everything you said about skincare: if you're gonna spurge on something it might as well be your skin! Then again, you'll probably be seeing me under that bridge lol....wrinkle free, of course!! ;)

    • I wish I would have seen this blog post thirty minutes ago! I just reordered a $20 facial cleanser that does practically the same thing as yours, probably not even as good! Next time. :)

    • haha I love you, I probably put just as much if not more on my face.

      Forever Young!

      :)

    • I go to Charlotte Skin and Laser too, love Dr. Rostan and her crew. I I haven't used serums or retinol pads yet, will have to check them out. Thanks for posting Emily!

You should try Rodan + Fields! The doctors who created Proactiv, created this line for aging skin. We have four regimens. Unblemish for acne and post acne scars, Redefine (formerly known as Anti-Age, Soothe for sensitive skin and those who have eczema and psoriasis, and Reverse for sun damage and dark spots. I swear by this product!

thanks for sharing....i'm going to try these!

    • Our skin is a reflection of what we put in our bodies. I found that its so much cheaper and efficient eating organic than buying tons of product to cover or "fix" what we put in our body.

    • Hi Emily! Do you use Retin a Micro? I just started a few weeks ago and my face is lookin' pretty rough. I thought I remembered you saying you used it, if so did it take a while to clear up? And did your skin turn super oily at first? Definitely trying those skinceutical products, I keep hearing great things about 'em. Thanks!

    • Oh, and I wanted to let you know you could be earning money by creating a ShopSense account and linking to your favorite products through them :) https://shopsense.shopstyle.com/page/ShopSenseHome

    • I see one thing missing and it's the most important one.....SUNSCREEN!!!!!! Does that am lotion have it? Cause if not, that's thee biggest skincare snafu ever! ;)

    • I agree, if you are going to splurge on anything, it should be the money maker! I am going to buy a retinoid ASAP! Thanks for the tips!

      Emily,

Thank you so much for posting this. I'd be interested in getting your opinion on the new Mary Kay TimeWise Repair line. I have been using it for about six months and it has totally revolutionized my skin. The whole set comes with 5 products and is only about $200.

    • Thank you for including drug store items with the high end items. I have heard so much about CeraVe, that I think I need to try it. And, I love your honesty. That is more valuable than the skin care advice :).

    • What is your makeup routine

    • Your skin is amazing, I was waiting for this post :) Thank you so, so much! I definitely want to try the Retinoid pads and PS I ordered a Clarisonic brush with my name on it (lol:) Can't wait to get it in the mail. Love your website and advice!

    • Hi pretty ladie ,
You are an absoutly beautiful women. !! I was wondering if you habe herd of nerium ? It is a anti aging cream 100% natural !! Works on wrinkles , stretcharks achne eggzama and so much more !! It has only been around for 13 months I believe and has been in success magazine .. it's wonderful !! Check it out kaylaviessman.nerium.com !!

    • Ahh, thank you!!! Exactly what I was looking for!!! ;)

    • I am going to try the moisturizer and the stuff you use for dry skin. That's my biggest face problem. Thanks so much for the tips!

    • Have you tried Dr. Perricone? AMAZING!!!! I am 41 and everyone thinks I am in my early 30s. You need to try the Acyl-Glutathione Deep Crease Serum when you start getting wrinkles. AWESOME! No botox needed with this stuff. Their anti-aging line is out of this world. Very expensive though.

    • I just switched to Skincueticals from Obagi and so far I love it too. I had to laugh at your comment about your mom buying La Mer for you because my mom does the exact same thing for me.

      Thanks for sharing!!

    • Great routine Emily, not ridiculous, never apologize for taking care of yourself. I am obsessed with my complexion, I have several dermatologists in my family and complexion is the key! Another person mentioned sunscreen which is extremely important whether it’s sunny outside or not. In the AM, don’t layer serums and creams and then sunscreen over that, you want to reap the full benefits of sunscreen. Any serums, etc should be applied after sunscreen so that the sunscreen itself protects your skin starting at least SPF30 or higher. At night, the “actives” should be used. Cleanse, tone, eye cream, vitamin C serum, glycolic cream, Retin A ( I use both, I don’t mess around), then seal it all with a night cream. The Clarisonic should be used in the AM so that it cleans/opens pores and lets the sunscreen do its duty! That’s my regime, I’m also a single mom, 36 yrs old, and look 23 as I am told. No lines, wrinkles, scars, etc. Skincare is my thang!! xoxo

    • I see nothing wrong with all this (esp. the La Mer...never have had it, I can only imagine!) I would just suggest adding a sunscreen into your morning routine-I know skinceuticals makes at least one type!

    • Will your mom adopt me? Please? :) Thanks for sharing your beauty routine here, Emily!

    • Sunscreen product? I always hear that is good for you as well. Thanks for posting! Great blog post! I am going to start adding these products into my daily routine! you're the best emily!! excited to have a good skin routine :)

I agree. Investing in skincare when you are young is important! I am 45 and have great skin! Part good Irish genes and part skincare! People always think I am younger . I have used Aveda skincare products for years! Great post!

    • Emily, have you heard of the new macro exfoliator all the beauty mags are raving about? It will be on the shelves in 12 days! It is basically microdermabrasion at home without the recovery time. It takes 5 million dead skin cells from your face in 5 minutes. Amazing!!

    • I'm a Rodan+ Fields girl, too! Awesome products and proven results! Check it out.

    • I would LOVE to try the SkinCeuticals one day! Ha, still living as a broke college student so I do what I can one a next-to-nothing budget ;)

I have "dropped the hint" about Le Mer for Mother's Day, but now going to forward your article to my girls so they can have a hey day buying some products for me. And... I am sure, they will feel inclined to also try most of them. Whatever you are doing, you looking stunning, and your complexion and smile lites up any room..xox hugs

    • Hey Emily!

I love you so much and appreciate how well you represented Charlotte on The bachelor and bachelorette! Since you just posted how your skincare routine. Could you maybe do a blog on how to apply your makeup and your favorite natural makeup?

    • I love this post. I can't stand when I want to know someones beauty routine and they are sponsored by products they don't use or give a vague description of what works for them. You are detailed, real, and I love it! Great post..Funny too! I will be living under the bridge next to you with everything I bought at Target!

    • Good idea-- I have a clarisonic brush, wash my face, and use moisturizer, but other than that, I don't do much to combat aging. I really need to! Thanks for the reminder.

    • Emily,
Fabulous!! I sent in a question asking about your skin regimen, so thank you for answering!!! Also, do you wear spf? I know you mentioned you are prone to breakouts, have you ever tried a peel before? I use to get betalift peels but my dermo just suggested a vi peel...have you ever tried on before?
      Thank you,
      Ali

    • Thanks Emily! I agree, glowy skin is the must-have of a good look! I love the idea of splurging on my skin- the products you shared add up to cost around $775. I'm wondering how long you think one go round of the products will last me? (I know each size is different, but if you had to guess an average). This will help me factor the financials of if I can pull this off ;) Hope so, you make it look worth it, your skin is gorge! xoxo

    • Awesome advice again! Thanks for being so up front regarding the details of your skin care routine!

    • Thank you for this Emily! I would love to try some of the serums you recommended and I've been dying to try La Mer.. if only it weren't so expensive.

Regarding sunscreen that everyone has been commenting about, I use the same CeraVe AM lotion and it does contain SPF 30!

    • IF these products will make my skin look anything like yours then I will definitely try them. Thanks for sharing! xoxo.

    • Hi Emily! In Finland's television we're always late, and yesterday I was watching The Bachelor from year 2011. I already know that you won because I liked you from the first episode, and I had to watch all the episodes on internet.. :)
You're the most beautiful woman EVER! I'm 19 years old girl and I wish that someday I'm so beautiful like you! And you're so awesome!! If I was The Bachelor now and you would be one of the girls I'd choose you right now, you don't pretend anything and you are so friendly to everyone! I hope you'll reply something to me, it would be great!! :)

    • X Hi Emily. I hope you make time for yourself, because a day without you is like a day without sunshine. Do you remember the Jesus story when He asked who had touched Him, because he felt a loss of energy? The lesson is: others can drain us without our knowing. The comedy, "What About Bob?" with Bill Murray (patient) and Richard Dreyfuss (psychiatrist) illustrates some fine life points. I often recall Murray's line, "I need, I need". In the end, Dreyfuss becomes the crazy one. Just like the doctor-patient relationship, it's important to establish and keep your boundaries with your "fans". X

Hey Emily I'm just throwing this out there to you in hopes that you will just go and watch this video. There is a brand new product out that has had unbelievable results. The video will tell it all. It's the new anti aging product that will blow everything else out of the water. I never thought I'd be messaging you for anything but I really couldn't not say anything after reading this post. I have my own results pictures too if you're interested. Email me if you are. You are beautiful as is but we all want to stay away from aging and keep beautiful skin as long as we possibly can.

    • I am 35 and now stay home with my little ones so La Mer might seem pricey. But I have tried it in the past and it is great. Since moving from NC to CO my skin is so much dryer. When I added up how much of my moisturizer I go go through in a year I would pay about the same. Thanks for the tips! It was a great reminder too.

    • Thanks for the tips. I love your style! But if you are going to spend that much on skincare, which I do too BTW, don't ruin all your good work with a poor diet. You are what you eat, so throw those Ramen Noodles in the trash right away! haha

    • Great that you use the B5.It is such a great part of any skin care routine!

I'm so glad you posted this. I was just thinking to myself last night that you should blog about your skin care products. Your skin is flawless.

    • How do you feel about the clarisonic? Worth it?? Oh and what's your fav foundation (medium to full coverage) loving the blog- keep up the good work:)

    • I also use the Phloretin CF and the anti-anging/blemish serum from SkinCeuticals! Not cheap, but worth every penny. Yay, for taking care of our skin! Love these products!! xx

    • Hi Emily. Love that you are sharing your skin secrets!!! I am wondering if you have ever heard of NeriumAD? It is an anti-aging night cream that helps with fine lines, deep lines, emerging lines, skin texture, pore size and discoloration. Check out the results people are seeing in 90 days or less here:
      http://www.nerium.com/ResultsGallery.aspx?ID=jamiegerhart
The Nerium market in Charlotte is brand new. Would love for you to sample it!

    • Hi Emily,

I think I have commented before and told you how much I loved you and your style. No really I'm totally obsessed with your style and classiness in a very platonic way.lol. I talk about your clothes and fashion all the time and my boyfriend thinks I'm crazy. Honestly, I'm starting to doubt my own sanity, but not before purchasing all of your clothes and creams. So to cut it short I have bought all of these creams and now I will be joining you under the bridge, but I just love them. They are amazing! The only thing is that I accidentally bought the Phloretin CE cream. Is this ok or should I exchange it and get the right thing? I'm not sure. Would love some feedback please. Also, is there a way to send you a picture of me wearing the forever 21 get lost tee to you? This is proof that I'm totally obsessed with your style. And yes, it's official I'm am a crazy obsessed lady.

    • Hi Emily!

Not sure if you order your SkinCeuticals online but I order my skincare from this website and I know they sell SkinCeuticals at a discount price! :)

      http://www.skincaremarket.net/SkinCeuticals_s/20.htm

    • I definately want to add each of these products into daily regimen. Since it is an investment that I will have to make a little at a time. What would be your suggestion with a $400 initial investment?

    • I love your posts!! You are the beauty expert!! Thank you!

    • I like your style! I am definitely going to try the Skinceuticals blemish and age serum! I'm so glad you shared this! I like the Skinceuticals Retinol night cream and use a crazy amount of serums as it is, but I've got to get it!

    • Do any of these products have an SPF? Thanks for posting!

    • Love this! I need to try Cera Ve. Just to share, Coconut oil also makes a great moisturizer and aids in preventing wrinkles. Since its natural its great for acne prone skin . I moisturizer with it every night before bed , and if I have a pimple when I wake up its much smaller! and it makes your skin soo soft!

    • EM!
Rodan+Fields products are AH-MAZ-ING! Honestly i was a foundation junky just to feel good walking around my HOUSE. The best part is I can be foundation optional ;) Its incredible stuff.

    • Do you use a daily SPF?

    • La Mer pure luxury! I don't think anyone needs to apologize for or make excuses for using the best anti aging skin cream out there. I'm a single mom and grandmother supporting myself as we'll as Emily. If you want radiant conditioned skin LaMer is your cream..if used properly it lasts a long time. My skin always is radiant and smooth. I've been a sun worshiper, a party girl in my time and you do not see it on my skin for one reason only, faithful user of LaMer. No apologies necessary Emily or reasons you invest, I get it. You look fabulous.

    • Been wanting to try La Mer forever! Which size cream do you get that lasts almost a year...the 2 oz?

    • Before anyone spends $$$ on these products, remember this...what works for Emily may not work for you. All of us have different skin issues. Check out this website for info on specific products: cosmeticscop.com and look under her Beautypedia. Some of the above products were reviewed as not so great.

    • Thanks so much for this post!

    • What SPF do you use in the morning?
      Thank you!
      Ali

    • Emily, I am also a crazy person once it comes to my skin and most of my money goes to skin care products, facials and anything that will prevent or delay the aging process. However, being a dentist myself I am careful of what products I choose because I have seen many dental products that promise too much to the consumer and offer in reality very little ( please check the American Dental Association when in doubt). So since I am at a loss in skin products I was looking at the products you recommend and comparing them with what the American Academy of Dermatology has to say. They indeed recommend using antioxidants (but most importantly wearing sunscreen) and also retinoid products at night (http://www.aad.org/media-resources/stats-and-facts/cosmetic-treatments/cosmeceuticals). I also found there a great link out of their website which recommended when "choosing anti-aging products, look for ingredients such as vitamin A and alpha hydroxy acid" : http://www.aad.org/dermatology-a-to-z/health-and-beauty/general-skin-care/skin-care-on-a-budget
Well, thank you for your website, I LOVE IT and I cannot stop reading it!

    • Your routine sounds good except you are using a rentoid and then layering with another retnoid! The Skinceuticals Blemish and Age Defense is a rentoid...I think you can just pick one retnoid product otherwise it can be irritating and drying. www.lustforblush.com

    • Thanks for this post! I love seeing all the products I have wondered about in one place with a great review! Have you ever used Rodan + Fields products before? Seems to me it might be cost effective for you since it would eliminate needing to use some of these since they are in the daily regimens the Dr.s have set up!

    • Hi Emily!

I love skinceuticals products. I just ordered my CE Ferulic from skinstore.com and was able to use the 30% off promotional code. Winning! :)

    • Curious if you use the la mer eye balm concentrate at night or eye balm intense both morning & night? Thanks.

    • I agree with above comments, Rodan + Fields products are amazing!!

    • Emily - I thought I saw a previous post from you saying you use Eve Lom cleanser and swear by it?

    • Stephanie Robertson  /  website March 24, 2014 at 6:22 pm

Thank you so much for sharing your beauty secrets! I 100% agree w/ you we should take care of our skin no matter the costs. I'm a skincare girl myself, and have always wanted the absolute BEST for my skin; which is why I started using Rodan & Fields Skincare!! With all those products, you should try our skincare and consolidate into a regimen with one/both of our amazing beauty tools (Macro Exfoliator & Amp MD Roller, which Ellen DeGeneres swears by!); for a fraction of the costs you have in all your items! :) I'm sure you're understandably approached by many people wanting you to promote their products. Just felt moved to share our amazing, clinical-grade, multi-med products in hopes you'll actually want to use them one day. You'll never want anything else... but maybe the gift of La Mer from your Mom! :)

    • Hi Emily,
Just want to firstly say thank you for your amazing blog, it gives so much help and inspiration on so many different topics.

I just wanted to ask you whether you still recommend the EVE LOM cleanser as I noticed in your skincare routine that it is not there? Have you decided it's simply too time consuming or do you only use it occasionally?

[...] Emily started a blog and wrote about about her skincare routine in a post called “I’ll Be Living Under The Bridge Wrinkle Free.” It detailed her daily regimen, which is lengthy and insane and everything I want in my arsenal. [...]

    • Hi Emily, I'm so sorry for troubling you again but I noticed in your daily beauty regimen you appear to no longer use EveLom cleanser? Is that correct? I'm just wondering because I now use it and swear by it but the downside is how much time the night ritual takes. I must confess to not always using my Clarisonic everyday either. certainly even though I desperately need to. We also don't have the brand Cerax here so it gets a little tricky but I'm horrible, I have spend a fortune on La Prairie Skin Care Products for many years now. La Mer however looks even more expensive but I know it's not always about the price of the product. I have a feeling I'm even worse than you when it comes to being a "girly-girl" Anyway thanks for all the updates but since you've started this blog my bank account has taken a serious hit! Haha, Much Love and Prayers.

      Karen Goodman xoxo
