So Much Can Change in a Year

Can you believe it’s been almost a year since I last posted on here? Soon after my last post I found out I was pregnant, so it’s been a crazy twelve months to say the least!

I’ll start from the beginning.. My pregnancy, as wonderful as the outcome was, was pretty rough on me. You know those people who can’t stop talking about how much they love being pregnant and have all the energy in the world? Well that’s not me. From the very day I was 6 weeks pregnant I got sick almost every day. It was so bad I was throwing up the very night before I went in to have him! It was like Dr. Seuss wrote a book about morning (aka all day) sickness. I threw up in a car. I threw up in a bar. I threw up on a boat. I threw up on my coat.

You get the picture. Yuck.

With Ricki I was in labor for 23 hours and ended up having an emergency c-section because she was so big. 10 pounds! This time I scheduled it from the beginning and let me tell you, it was a million times easier! Make fun of me if you will, and I’m sure you will because INTERNET, but I got my nails done, eyelashes filled in, and hair blown out that week. Tyler and I got to the hospital at 5:30am and by 7:45am Jennings was here! The recovery wasn’t as bad as I remembered it being with Ricki either. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t fun or easy but it could be much worse.

Tyler and I couldn’t agree on baby names to save our lives. He wanted a nice, traditional name from the bible and I wanted something different that no one else had. Everyone kept asking me what name we had picked out and for sure thought I was lying when I told them we hadn’t agreed on one yet! When we were in the hospital and the lady came in to have us sign the birth certificate, we still hadn’t agreed and I thought we were going to have to leave with a no name baby because neither of us were going to compromise. On the very last day we finally decided on Jennings, my grandfathers name, and Tyler for his middle name so in the end, we both won. And I always say since all of us have to take Tyler’s last name the least he could do is let me pick the first, right?

Jennings is almost 3 months old now and he’s been an absolute dream. Even with the lack of sleep and permanent smell of spit up coming from my hair, I can honestly say I’m loving everything about my new family of four. I know these pictures are a little old, so I’m going to do another post later with some updated pictures. I’m also going to do posts about Jennings’ nursery, must have baby items, and things to bring to the hospital, so leave me any other questions in the comments section and I’ll try to answer them in my upcoming posts!

Here are some pictures that my friend, Allison Kuhn, took for me when Jennings was just a few weeks old. I absolutely die over the ones with Ricki!     Jennings is just too adorable! The all Time sickness is the worst! I had it with all four of my pregnancies. I got to be a pro at The vomit and rally Game. We Where beyond excited when jennings arrived and i look forward to getting to hold him again soon!! Love to all!

  63. I just had my second child and it was a scheduled c section (my first little one was 10 pounds too!) and i did the exact same things you did to “prepAre”. I was also suRprised that the recovery the second time around was not as difficult as i had REMEMBERed. I look forward to reading your Baby must haves!   71. Emily he is beautiful! I actually Just had my First child, a beautiful baby boy. He was due At the eNd of july but He was a week late! And i thought i was the only one! I swear i threw up Every day, even During labor! It was miserable But worth it now. But Since My bAby is the same age as jennings I was hoping maybe you could do a small post about helpful Storage ideas and organizing? Now that hes around ten weeks i could use some Help! Baby stuff is All over! And also If you or anyone has ever tried the belly baNd? For shrinking your waste after a bAby? Im not sure if i Should spend the money Or not.
    But thanks for the post! your Son is soooo beautiful i love hIs gReat head of hair!

  78. BeauTiful pictUres….i had hyperemesis graVidarUm when i was prefnant with my daughter and let me tell you i threw up 41 weeks and 1 day. So i def know what you went through. My daughter is now 28 months and i cant see myself going through the same thing aLl over again

  92. You mentioned all the throwing up, and i saw your sad Instagram photo of Jennings being a spitter. I have 3 boys, all of which were barfers, so gross, right!?! All 3 were allergic to dairy and once i quit eating it, they quit wrecking every outfit i put on! I love my cheese and ice cream, but was so happy not to be covered in it ALL the time! Praying that God blesses your precious family!!

  99. i Know the feeling i had the all day sickness to the moment i gave Birth my mother in law holding a bucket until the moment i welcomed our first born son cHris to the world. I also waited 9 yearS so the experience of giving birth was so different but was worth every minute i felt Sick. I am so happy you found love with Tyler and a great dad For riki i have been following you sInce the bachelor and i was drawn to your life story. Jennings is the cuttest and your family is beautiful.
