CLARISONIC MIA: Nordstrom

A New Kind of Brush

February 21, 2013 by emily 56 Comments

I don’t know about you all but sometimes I wonder if my skin got the message that I’m not a teenager anymore. I pile so much stuff on my face every night before I go to bed that no one within a five mile radius should have a breakout based on fumes alone! I by no means have the magic fix, but ever since I started using the Clarisonic Electric Face Brush my skin has improved overnight!

I have used the Clarisonic Mia for a while now and it gets the job done, so don’t worry about getting the one with all the fancy buttons. I start by splashing a little water on my face and putting my face wash on. Some people like to put it on the actual brush itself, but that’s too messy for me. Once you’re ready you just hit the button and start scrubbing. The Mia stays on continuously for one minute and you’ll want to spend 20 seconds on your forehead, 20 seconds on your nose/chin, and 10 seconds on each cheek. I don’t know the science behind it but there’s something about the vibrations that causes everything in your pores to come out which is good news for all of us because that means less breakouts!

I’ve gone a couple days without using it before thinking, “I don’t know if this is really making a difference. I’m going to skip it tonight.” Let me be the first to say, it does! My mom has always told me that exfoliation is key to good skincare and this does it better than anything I’ve tried without being too harsh for my sensitive skin. I know it’s expensive though, so if you’re not sure if you want to make the investment I’ll tell you my beauty on the cheap trick. The next time you’re at Costco, The Dollar Store, or anywhere else that’s not necessarily known for the thread count in their sheets get the cheapest washcloths they have. The more expensive ones are softer, so they don’t clean your skin as well and who wants to ruin all their nice washcloths with makeup? I keep a basket of them in my bathroom so I can just grab one and so I don’t get them mixed up with the nicer ones I give my guests. For my skin I have to use something other than just my hands to wash my face or else I don’t ever feel like it gets clean enough, which could be why I look like a freshman in high school when I get lazy and try to take shortcuts! Try my cheap washcloth trick and in the meantime save up for a Clarisonic! It’s worth it, I promise!

I just got my Clarisonic Mia 2 last week and am loving it so far! I’d been contemplating buying one for a while but didn’t want to spend the money. Finally I broke down and ordered it and am SO glad I did. After only a few days of using it, I am noticing a big difference. I can’t wait to see how much of a difference it makes after a few weeks worth of use!

The Olay pro x cleansing system is just as good! Also has 2 speeds & affordable! Normally about $30 at Walmart or target. I’m sure you can get it for less on amazon! 🙂

You guys are going to love the Mia! I have had the Mia 2 since June and it has been a life saver. Know that your skin does get worse before it gets better because all the gunk is coming out, but stay patient and stay with it! I use Kate Somerville Detox Daily Cleanser with it. Good luck!

Emily, love your blog and all these great tips!

I was told to get the clarisonic at a facial I had over a year ago.. and it is the BEST! I was super leery about spending so much on something, because I am a huge penny pincher, but y’all should get it right now.

We keep ours in the shower and each have our own brush head because yes, my husband even uses it! Your skin will feel smoother than you ever thought possible. Love it!

    Emily,
I couldn’t agree more. I stumbled upon a Groupon for a similar spin brush and have been using it for about a year. WHAT a difference! It thoroughly cleans out your pores, releasing any trapped makeup. It’s a must use every night product for me now!
You don’t need to spend a lot on one of these; several drugstores, Target, and even online offer affordable versions. It’s worth every cent.
    Here’s to clean skin!

I have been using the Clarisonic Mia 2 since January. I have awful skin and i’m also pregnant, so, I can’t do anything besides just wash my face right now 🙁 It has definitely helped. I still don’t have great skin, but, I am hoping once the pregnancy hormones go away combined with the Mia 2 I might have clear skin in the future!

I found the Clarisonic Mia 2 on a website called “Sharing Spree”…it’s similar to Groupon, but it’s more local. Doesn’t matter where you live you can still participate and order. Sign up and you will receive the “deal of the day”. I bought my Mia 2 for $69.99 plus $7 shipping. They offered it again last week so it’s good to keep checking daily. Emily, fabulous blog! I have used the Clarisonic in the past and thought I hit the jackpot until I found the Rodan and Fields Macro Exfoliator. It exfoliates and vacuums away 5 million dead skin cells in one 5 minute use, achieving true exfoliation and skin renewal whereas the Clarisonic just deep cleans your skin. After one use I was in love and my skin was completely transformed!

Another great inexpensive face washcloth/scrubber is actually found at the Dollar Store, believe it or not. 3 small round discs come in a pack for $1. There is a soft side and a more “exfoliating” side. I have been using them for years and love them! It’s worth $1 to try it out!

I recently bought a mia after reading about it here and other places. IF you use Fillers like juvaderm, please be careful. I looked it up and there was nothing negative about it so I thought ok. Let me tell you (i am older) my fillers in 12 days of using the mia were gone! I about cried, well I did cry. My skin did see great results with the mia but at the expense of my beautiful fillers. Becareful if you have injections.

What changed my life was when I started using makeup wipes before I wash my face. It get’s pretty much all the makeup off before I go in with any cleanser. You want to rid your face of all of the makeup first then let the Slarasonic or any cleanser you use do its job. Plus the brush on your Clarasonic will last longer if you do this. My favorite makeup wipes are the Simple brand. They are amazing and from the drugstore. Great blog Emily, can’t wait to read more!

    Emily,
I constantly have clogged pores. I seem to have more skin problems at 36 than I did at 16. I looked at the skincare line you use and it is very intimidating because there are so many different products. How many different steps do you do at night? Also, do you use these products with your Mia? Your skin is flawless. Yes, I know I have 10 years on you but a girl can try 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing your life with me. xoxoxoxo

I agree 100% with Emily! At the age of 26 (almost 27), my skin STILL gets as congested as a Los Angeles freeway! I have tried EVERY face wash, cream, and prescription that is on the market to achieve clear, radiant skin. I was skeptical to buy the Clarisonic brush because let’s face it…a wash cloth costs all of $1.00! A few quick Google searches for Clarisonic resulted in a website called skinstore.com, which offered free shipping AND 20% off your entire purchase! SCORE! I ordered the oh-so cute pink Mia (with the standard brush head) and the Clarisonic foaming gel face wash. After just a few uses, I could tell a DRASTIC difference in my skin! Even my husband noticed a difference and he NEVER picks up on things! I use it before I go to bed to make sure my skin is able to breathe at night. I also use it sometimes in the morning when I can feel a big breakout coming. I recently purchased the special acne brush heads and their acne foaming cleanser. Just when I thought this product couldn’t get any better…..WOW! If you are on the fence about buying this brush…..DO IT!!!!!

If you like your Clarisonic then you will LOVE LOVE LOVE the Macro-Exfoliator!

What’s the difference between the Clarisonic and the Macro Exfoliator?

The Clarisonic brush cleans, softens, and smooths the skin. The brush is gentle, yet does remove makeup, oil and dirt better than manual cleansing alone.

The Macro Exfoliator is a hand-held, personal, at-home exfoliation tool that sweeps away dead skin by removing the stratum corneum (the top layer of the skin) leaving your skin smoother and healthier looking with a more luminous completion.

It’s diamond tip head is the first thing you should notice that really sets them a part. Just 5 minutes each week removes 5 million dead skin cells!

100% of participants experienced an improvement in their skin texture after ONE use! They sold out like crazy and will be back in stock in 19 days. Go to my website to check it out… melissatraini.myrandf.com and email me at Melissatraini@gmail.com to become a preferred customer and get 10% discount and free shipping.

I do love the clarisonic for cleaning, but it isn’t made to exfoliate!! The bristles are too soft and flexible. I’ve been using the macro exfoliator from Rodan+Fields and there is NOTHING like it!!! It is actually designed to exfoliate! And it does just that!! There isn’t much of a price difference between the two either!
