More Is More

Do you ever buy something you know you shouldn’t because it’s not only expensive, but also totally impractical? Welcome to the story of my life. I always justify it by saying that I’m going to start dressing up more, I’ll keep it forever, or whatever other excuses pop into my head as I’m standing at the register.

Last year I bought an amazing beaded All Saints skirt and love it so much I could wear it everyday (see.. more justification) but I never know what to wear with it. It has so much going on that I usually just wear a solid top but how boring is that? So today I’m taking a risk.. mostly for the sake of my wallet so I can get as much wear out of this skirt as I can. And at the end of the day, it’s just fashion so why NOT have some fun once in a while?

What do you all think? What would you wear with this skirt?

I absolutely love this look!! I totally know what you mean! I wish there were more opportunities to dress up or wear fun fashion-forward outfits in real life. I say just wear what you love and it’ll translate! Love your style! So so pretty. That skirt is totally worth it! 🙂

Hi Emily, greetings from Boston. I think you have great fashion sense but I don’t think that tshirt goes with that skirt no offense it’s something about the trademark on the shirt and the glittery skirt clashing and just not meshing well. I think either a sleek black blouse or tank top would look great with it along with jewelry. Hayley:)

    I adore this outfit!

You could also pair this skirt with a chambray top and layered jewelry (of course) for a stylish transition into fall!

Gorgeous!! I absolutely love that skirt and how you paired everything together. I am the same way, I always get drawn to pieces that are so impractical but I end up buying them anyways, because I know I will find something to go with it! 🙂

This post is so timely! I have black sequin skirt that I never know what to wear with. I always think it has to be a dressy outfit! I can totally rock a graphic tank with it as you have here. Love your style! xoxo 🙂

I love your combo and I’m always a fan of grungy graphic tees paired with glitzy, girly pieces. I would totally wear it like this or pair with a plain classic tee shirt, maybe in a warm neutral for a classy monochrome look.

You look beautiful, but where one would actually wear an outfit like this? Do you run errands in it? If I wore this where I live I’d get arrested.

Thanks! And no, I wouldn’t wear this to run errands! I’d maybe wear it out to a nice dinner with my girlfriends or a fun concert.

There’s no way that skirt cost more than those $1,200 shoes.

You look gorgeous! I always say that anything looks great tucked into a cute pencil skirt, even if it’s a dressy skirt. Sometimes casual and dressy are the best looks!

Hi Emily. You look beautiful in anything - it doesn’t really matter what you wear. You are very lucky to have a beautiful face and figure so you can wear anything really! What is the lipstick or lip gloss you are wearing? Also, do you still use the ‘Sultra Bombshell’ to curl your hair? Thanks.

Love this look! Think it would also be more fun to make it more sophisticated with a polka dot button up/chambray top and some pointed toe pumps!

By replacing “it” with “breaking” in my last comment, the comment makes intended sense. (Some habits are hard to break, and good habits aren’t worth it - like I Love You.)

Listening to Christian music (as usual) on the way home from shopping tonight and a deer was walking in the middle of the street - in the crosswalk. Inspirational.

Look forward to your posts this week:) Love you. The earlier love you counted for a different time.

I love it! I have a skirt very similar that I have paired with 3 quarter length roll up sleeve white button up shirt that ties at the waist. i wear chunky jewelry and gold wedges. Keeps it very casual but the skirt is definitely a statement piece!
