I originally had a post up today about my normal stuff.. where to find this dress or what color my lipstick was in a certain picture, but it just didn’t feel right knowing the grief the people in Oklahoma are experiencing today. I know many of us want to help but just don’t know how, especially from so far away. Here’s a list of ways you can get involved…

 

American Red Cross- Text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10 to American Red Cross Disaster Relief, donate online, or donate by phone at 1-800-RED CROSS.If you’re searching for a missing relative, check Red Cross Safe & Well site. And please register if you’re within the disaster region. The site is designed to make communication easier after a tragedy like this.

Salvation Army- Donate online or text STORM to 80888 to contribute $10 to the Salvation Army’s relief efforts or make a donation by phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY. If you’re sending a check make sure you put the words “Oklahoma Tornado Relief” on the check, and mail it to: The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 12600, Oklahoma City, OK., 73157.

Operation USA- Donate online, by phone at 1-800-678-7255, or by check made out to Operation USA, 7421 Beverly Blvd., PH, Los Angeles, CA 90036. You can also donate $10 by texting AID to 50555. Corporate donations of bulk quantities of disaster-appropriate supplies are also being requested.

Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief- This organization says donations will “go straight to help those in need providing tree removal services, laundry services and meals to victims of disasters.” It is requesting monetary donations (It says clothing is NOT needed). Send checks to: BGCO, Attn: Disaster Relief, 3800 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City, OK., 73112.

  2. Feed The Children is preparing emergency disaster relief supplies and will be accepting donations from the public on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the McCormick Distribution Center, 29 N McCormick.
    Items that will be accepted are diapers, canned goods, nonperishable food and snack items, water and sports drinks.
    Feed The Children is coordinating with other organizations and authorities at the scene to deliver disaster supplies as requests are received.
    Cash donations to help with relief efforts can be made by phone at 800-627-4556 or online at http://www.feedthechildren.org/disaster .

    Thank you!! I live in north Oklahoma City and was fortunate to miss the tornado, but so many people were not. Thank you for getting word out on how we can help my fellow Oklahomans!

  6. Thank you so much Emily! I grew up in Moore and it’s unreal to see my hometown all of the news like this. Thank God my family is safe and their homes were not damaged. I have several friends who have lost theirs. Moore is a strong town of strong people and I know they will get through this like always! 🙂

  7. Emily, thank you for your kind words. It’s so encouraging to see people pull together and help our state. From a friend of mine that lost their house a yr ago in the same situation, they said Trash bags, plastic containers, wire cutters, gloves, first aid kits, sunscreen, water, ice chest, packaged snacks, rubber boots, and tarps. Just some things people may not think of.

  10. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. Although I don’t know anyone in affected by this, I do have family & friends in Tulsa, who could have easily had this happen to them. I will be getting my donation ready today, now that I know where to send it. Thank you again for having such a loving & caring heart. To those affected by this horrific storm, please know that you are in the thoughts & prayers of so many & you are loved!!!

  12. Paul and Amy Walker own AKW Roofing located at 5460 S Garnett Rd, Suite N, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are collecting donations needed to help The City of Moore starting today. We’ll personally deliver these items Wednesday, May 29th so there’s time this week to get items collected and dropped off to us.
    Items needed: food, water, clothing, shoes, bedding, gloves, formula, shovels the list goes on as you can only imagine.
    Amy is also a real estate agent here in the Tulsa area and has a group of agents putting together bags for women, children and men such as shampoo, conditioner, hair items, toothbrush, toothpaste, diapers etc. We also need these items donated if you can help.
    We are asking for you to do what you can to help.

  14. God spoke to your heat today!! Thanks for sharing. You’re one of the few woman who I look up to! I know Salvation Army has a lot and also Red Cross. The storms will come but with America’s help we can always make a difference by putting nonsense aside and doing what’s right for others. Much love you and God bless you!!!

  17. Emily, another way to give is directly to funeral homes in the Moore area. Designate funds for the burial of children who did not survive. This would ease some burden for families who have already lost so much. A friend who is ministering to these families specifically mentioned John Ireland funeral home on Broadway in Moore.

  20. This is a great organization to donate to help in Oklahoma. Mercy Chef
    is a charity that helps to get quality hot meals into the bellies of the front line workers and families left without homes, food, or water. Right now Mercy Chefs along with caravans of supplies (they left yesterday) are heading to the areas hit hardest by the tornado in Oklahoma.   25. I live in Norman, right outside of Moore, and have been volunteering these past few days. One thing people don’t think of right away is all of the animals that have been affected. Consider donating to the animal hospital in Norman that is providing free medical care. We are good on food, as the purina factory in Edmond has donated truckloads, but we are low on litter boxes, crates, and bowls! Thank you for all your prayers!!
