First Date Freak Out

First dates are nerve-racking. No question. But for me it's not the usual worries like am I going to like him? Is he going to like me? What if this date totally bombs? No. The questions that go through my mind are WHAT THE @*?# AM I GOING TO WEAR? Are we going to be walking a lot? What is he going to be wearing? Should I wear a dress? Jeans? Straight hair or curly hair? Red lips or smoky eyes? AAAH! My brain is about to explode just thinking about it and God knows I don't even have a date tonight. Seriously, if someone were to walk into my closet while I'm trying to figure out what to wear, Hoarders would need to be called immediately because I very well could have trapped a cat under a pile of clothes. It's embarrassing. But as someone who has been on many first dates, some of which were on national television, I feel as though it's my duty as a single girl to share with you what I've learned along the way.
For a first date you can't go wrong with skinny black pants and a fun top, just make sure to personalize it with some jewelry and high heels. I feel like you could drink Veuve Cliquot or Bud Light in this outfit, and could fit in pretty much anywhere he ended up taking you. Unless you're on The Bachelor and you end up jumping off a cliff or something. In that case, you're on your own girl. Sorry.
And just remember, the right guy is going to come along and think you're super fab in your sweatpants and no makeup, stuffing your face while watching Real Housewives on the couch. So don't stress and try to remind yourself that he's just as nervous as you are and can't believe he landed a date with such a babe!

Em, you are stunning in whatever you wear! That is to say, wall climbing harnesses, to skinny jeans, and/or bikinis. Long, straight or wavy, blonde hair is always a favorite of mine; this comes from a hopeless romantic.

Thank you for writing about the dreaded “will we be doing a lot of walking?” shoe question! Guys will never understand how important that one is; it makes all the difference between a striking, pricey stiletto or a pair of cute ballet flats (in which case, both outfits would be entirely different)! As such, and since you can’t really flat out ask lest you come off as too “princessy”, I usually end up in cute & comfy wedges or knee high leather round toe boots on dates :)

Great blog, very informative. Sometimes I feel like I spend too much time in sweatpants because I have twin girls that are 2 1/2 and I’m a single mom. I haven’t dated anyone in a year and the thought of spending extra time to get ready is nauseating lol! I know I need to put forth more of an effort. Frankly I need a makeover but that’s never going to happen. So for the sake of not seemin more pathetic I will end with saying I look forward to your blogs and living vicariously through you lol!!!
